Vivity & PanOptix
The Vivity and PanOptix IOLs are excellent options for those who want to have greater visual freedom after cataract surgery. At Laurel Eye Clinic, we are proud to offer these advanced IOLs to our patients to help them achieve their vision goals.
What is the Vivity IOL?
The Vivity IOL, an extended depth of focus lens, is a revolutionary new type of intraocular lens that has been designed to allow you to experience clear vision at a range of distances without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Unlike traditional IOLs, which only correct for distance vision, the Vivity IOL corrects for both distance and intermediate vision.
This makes it an ideal choice for individuals who lead active lifestyles and require clear vision at various distances. One of the key benefits of Vivity IOL is its unique design.
The design incorporates non-diffractive optics that distribute light across a range of focal points. Thanks to it’s unique construction, the Vivity IOL allows for a smooth transition between different focal points, providing you with clear and crisp vision at all distances.
The Vivity IOL has also been shown to reduce glare and halos at night, which is a common problem with traditional multifocal IOLs. Another important advantage of Vivity IOL is its compatibility with modern cataract surgery techniques.
Vivity IOL can be implanted using a small incision technique, which results in a faster recovery time and less postoperative discomfort for patients. Additionally, Vivity IOL is available in a range of powers, allowing your cataract surgeon to select the appropriate lens power for you to achieve optimal visual outcomes.
The Vivity IOL represents a significant advancement in intraocular lens technology, offering patients a new option for clear vision at multiple distances. With its unique non-diffractive optics, compatibility with modern cataract surgery techniques, and reduced glare and halos, Vivity IOL has the potential to improve the quality of life for those wanting to experience reduced dependence on visual aids after cataract surgery.
What is the PanOptix IOL?
The PanOptix IOL is the first trifocal IOL. It is designed to improve distance, intermediate and near vision, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses after cataract surgery.
The PanOptix IOL was developed by Alcon, a leading eye care company, and received FDA approval in 2019. It is made of soft, foldable material and is implanted into the eye through a small incision.
Once in place, the PanOptix IOL works by splitting incoming light into different focal points, allowing the eye to focus on both near and distant objects simultaneously. One of the key advantages of the PanOptix IOL is its ability to provide excellent visual acuity at a range of distances, from up close to far away.
This is achieved through the use of diffractive optics, which is a type of technology that bends and focuses light in a specific way. The PanOptix IOL also has a unique aspheric design, which helps to reduce glare and improve contrast sensitivity.
Clinical studies have shown that the PanOptix IOL can provide patients with high levels of visual acuity, particularly when it comes to near and intermediate vision. In fact, many patients report being able to read without glasses, drive at night without difficulty, and enjoy activities such as playing golf or using a computer with improved visual acuity.
Overall, the PanOptix IOL represents a significant advancement in cataract surgery and has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for patients who receive it. If you are interested in the PanOptix IOL, ask your eye doctor at Laurel Eye Clinic if it may be right for you.
